Woodland KESDA State Results

Well, it was a weekend to remember…Throughout the challenges that ALL the forensics teams faced at the KESDA state tournament in Lexington this past weekend, the Woodland students and the chaperones showed great courage and strength in the face of drastic and potentially dangerous weather conditions and conducted themselves in the most professional of ways. And while we are thankful for our safety, we are ever so mindful of those who have lost much during this time in our own county. Our thoughts are with those who have lost so much and we hope for a speedy recovery for all those affected.

The results from our first state competition are as follows:

Top Novice in Prose: Taylor Goetz

Quarter finalists:
Trey Burns in Prose

Semi finalists:
Mallory Mitchell – Interp of Lit AND Poetry
Lizzie Rinken – Interp of Lit

Finalists:
Mallory Mitchell and Lizzie Rinken - 6th place in Duo Improv
Trey Burns and Lindsay Allen - 3rd place in Duo Improv
Alex Johnston - 6th place in Impromptu speaking
and 1st place in the state in STORYTELLING!

Overall, the team came in 4th in Team efficiency, beating out teams with twice as many entries and student participants and 1st PLACE OVERALL in the small school division with a record high 133 points with only 18 entries.  The Woodland team took 8th place overall!   Turkeyfoot also represented as an up and coming school by having 13 Quarter finalists, a top novice award in Duo Acting and taking 10th place overall.
